4.4.2 Rejection. Deficiencies of workmanship and nonconformance to any requirements
herein shall be cause for rejection until corrective action has been taken.
5. PACKAGING
5.1 Vehicle processing. The vehicle shall be processed for shipment, from the
manufacturer's plant to the initial activity, in accordance with the manufacturer's standard
commercial practice.
6. NOTES
6.1 Intended use. The vehicles covered by this specification are intended for nontactical
use by the Government in transporting both children and adults over roads and highways
encountered by the military services in the continental United States and overseas areas, and for
operation in all climates. Additionally, the buses are intended for conversion to ambulances for
transportation of litter patients. The principal use of the vehicles will be stop-and-go, short haul,
medium and low speed operation.
6.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
(a) Title, number, and date of this specification.
(b) Type, and number of litters and number of passengers (see 1.2).

(c) Issues of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation and if required, the specific
issue of the individual documents referenced (see 2.1.1 and 2.1.2).
(d) Identification of appropriate service for painting and marking (see 3.1.1.1).
(e) Concealed markings, if required (see 3.1.1.1).

(f) National School Bus Yellow, if required (see 3.1.1.1).
(g) Rustproofing, if required (see 3.1.1.2).
(h) Towing brakes, if required (see 3.1.1.7).
(i) Exterior sound level in accordance with California Vehicle Code, if required
(see 3.2.3).
(j) Satisfactory operation on JP-4, JP-5 and JP-8 fuels, if required (see 3.4.1).
(k) Power plant heaters and fuel warmer, if required (see 3.4.1.6).
(1) If a battery heater is not required (see 3.4.1.6).
(m) Silicone rubber radiator and heater hoses, if required (see 3.4.1.8).
(n) Fuel fired engine preheater, if required (see 3.4.1.9).
(o) Passenger signal buzzer, if required (see 3.4.2.6.2)
(p) If red signal lamps are not required for type III vehicle (see 3.4.2.6.4).
(q) A master electrical switch, if required (see 3.4.2.7).
(r) Special capacity protection for main engine fuel tank(s) serving air conditioner
system, if required (see 3.4.3.2).
