2.2.1 Dimensions. Vehicle dimensions shall not be less than those required for the transport and handling of caskets. Floor to ceiling height shall not be less than 38 inches (in.) (965 millimeters (mm)) and floor length shall not be less than 110 in. (2795 mm).
2.3 Performance. The hearse shall have a top speed of not less than hour 55 miles per hour
(88.5 kilometers per hour).
2.4 Transmission. The hearse shall be equipped with an automatic transmission and transmission cooling system.
2.5 Suspension. The hearse shall be equipped with a heavy-duty self-leveling suspension.
2.6 Wheels and tires. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the hearse shall be equipped with tubeless, highway tread, steel-belted radial tires and a full-size spare and tire assembly within the vehicle body under the rear floor on the left hand side in a location that shall not interfere with the function of the vehicle or necessitate moving the casket when removal of the spare is required.
The necessary tools for changing a tire shall be provided.
2.7 Battery. The battery shall be of the maintenance-free type.
2.8 Body. Hardware and other exposed metal trim shall be chrome plated, stainless steel, or anodized aluminum. Sound-deadening material shall be used on body sheet metal. Interior lining and trim material shall be treated to withstand exposure without spotting, shrinking, or warping. Body insulation shall be a nonhygroscopic, noncombustible, fibrous material resistant to fungus growth and shall be asbestos free. Insulation shall be anchored to prevent sag or insulation voids.
2.9 Exterior body trim. The exterior body trim of the hearse shall conform to the contractor's commercial standards.
2.10 Driver's compartment. Seat belt shall be installed in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The following shall also be provided: inside rearview mirror; outside power rearview mirror on each side; key operated ignition switch; ammeter, voltmeter or charging indicator; fuel gauge; oil pressure gauge or indicator; speedometer with recording odometer; ash receptacle; dual padded sunvisors; arm rest mounted on inside of each front door; power door locks; power front windows; cruise control; tilt and telescopic steering wheel; controlled cycle windshield wiper; six-way power seat adjuster for driver's seat; and an AM/FM stereo radio with signal seek and scan, digital display with clock and power antenna.
2.11 Heating and cooling. The driver's compartment shall be equipped with an electronic climate control system with outside temperature display. All windows, including the windshield,
shall be tinted safety glass.
