MILITARY SPECIFICATION
BUSES, MOTOR: TRANSIT,
AMBULANCE CONVERSION, FORWARD CONTROL, WITH HIGH
HEADROOM, 30 AND 44 PASSENGER, 2 WHEEL DRIVE
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the
Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers 30- and 44-passenger, forward driver control,
two-wheel drive, diesel engine driven motor buses with ambulance conversion features. The bus
body shall be a flat front type with high headroom. Vehicles shall have manufacturer's standard
rear wheel drive, soft ride suspension, heavy duty bus chassis frame, and single front and rear
axles. Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which shall be warranted
by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents.
1.2 Classification. The bus shall be of the type specified (see 6.2). Vehicle type, litter,
and passenger capacity shall be as shown in table I.
